First Reloadable SmartCard for parking meters, taxis and garages in U.S. History
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania— June 1, 2009 —OmPay™ in conjunction with the Philadelphia Parking Authority officially started installing new on-street parking meters which will support Ompass.
Ompass™ will be the nation’s first payment option to work in all modes of transportation, from taxis, to parking meters, garages, car share, busses, trolleys, subways and more.
“The vision is to create a single convenient payment option for all modes of transportation, a convenience never seen before,” said James Kohler, OmPay’s CEO. “This product has been a long time coming and are very excited to get it on the street and start receiving beta customer feedback”
Timelines to roll out Ompass in other modes are still being finalized however it is anticipated the convenience will spread in the upcoming months.
