SmartCard Even More Important with Rate Increase
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania— January 15, 2009 — The City of Philadelphia approved a parking meter rate increase in the fall of 2008 which has taken affect mid January 2009. This rate increase is affecting center city and university city areas of Philadelphia.
“We anticipate this rate increase to drive additional demand for the SmartCard as coins become less attractive and harder to come by to fill up the meter” said Paul DeJoe, OmPay’s Director of Retail Distribution. “We have been working with our retail partners throughout the city to begin preparing for the increase in demand so that we do not leave a single customer short handed or searching for quarters”
