Randy Cherkas
Randy Cherkas is a Philadelphia regional entrepreneur who has founded and sold two high growth companies during the past decade. Mr. Cherkas was the founder of GTS Prepaid, and has been the Company’s President since its inception in April 2000. GTS Prepaid has become one of the leading distributors of prepaid telecommunications and financial services products in the US. In May 2004, GTS Prepaid was named #7 among the fastest growing companies in Southern New Jersey for 2001-2003. In August of 2004, GTS Prepaid was also named #25 among the fastest growing companies in the Philadelphia 100.
Subsequent to these awards, in September 2004, Mr. Cherkas sold the majority of GTS Prepaid to a larger competitor. The company has been renamed Diamond Mobile, and will continue to provide wireless solutions to credit challenged consumers. Previously he was the President of Global Telecommunication Solutions, Inc. a publicly traded telecommunications company, since September 1998 and a director since February 1998. From February 1998 to August 1998, Mr. Cherkas served as their Chief Operating Officer. In 1994, Mr. Cherkas founded Networks Around the World, Inc.
(“NATW”) and served as its President until February 1998, when NATW was acquired by Global Telecommunication Solutions, Inc. In 1998, NATW as named #1 among the fastest growing companies in Southern New Jersey for 1995-1997, and #4 among the Philadelphia 100. From 1984 to 1993, Mr. Cherkas served as an account executive and retail specialist for IBM in the Philadelphia area. He is a 1984 graduate of the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School, where he was President of the Kite and Key Society and a member of the Sphinx Honor Society. He is also a graduate of MIT’s “Birthing of Giants” Entrepreneurial Program. Mr. Cherkas is also a Board member and Chairman of the Membership Committee for the International Prepaid Communications Association
(IPCA). He has been involved in developing prepaid programs for such retail chains as A&P Supermarkets, Circle K, Wawa Food Markets, Sunoco and 7-Eleven, as well as promotional programs for MTV Networks, Pepsi, Kraft Foods and the Children’s Miracle Network. Mr. Cherkas lives in Moorestown with his wife and two children. He is an active participant in youth sports, both as a coach and a league administrator. He has also traveled extensively throughout the United States and Europe. |
