Dan Tiernan

Dan Tiernan is a seasoned technology entrepreneur with over 20 years of experience that includes leadership positions in technology design, sales, and services across a wide variety of industries. Dan was a co-founder of Atlas Commerce, which was acquired by Verticalnet in December 2001. At Verticalnet, Dan assumed control of the services division where he grew revenue 250% (to $6.7 million) in 2003 which enabled the company to avoid bankruptcy and ultimately raise more than $10 million in private placements, repositioning the company for growth and acquisitions, ultimately driving annual revenue to greater than $30 million. While with Atlas Commerce, he led corporate strategy and also served as president. In his tenure at Atlas, Dan led the company in it’s acquisition of ground-breaking customer relationships at Hewlett Packard and Wal-Mart, among many others. These wins helped to position Atlas as a market leader in software for ‘private marketplaces’ as recognized by leading analysts like AMR and CSFB, thought leaders like Dr. Michael Hammer and major publications like Business Week and Information Week. Atlas Commerce raised over $45 million in funding and won numerous awards including Eastern Technology Council ‘Startup Company of the Year’ for 2000. Prior to co-founding Atlas, Dan enjoyed a successful career at SCT and Accenture, focusing on ERP sales and business development. At SCT, Dan played a key role in helping to launch an ERP product to the market that ultimately grew from $2 million a year in revenue to over $50 million per year in just over 3 years. As a manager with Accenture, Dan led key projects for multinational corporations such as General Electric and Delta Airlines, specializing in re-engineering and strategic sourcing. After being promoted to Manager at Accenture in less than four years, Dan moved into the firm’s software group where he ultimately assumed the role of Sales Director. In his first year as a Sales Director, the youngest in the firm at age 29, Dan achieved 240% of his quota which was the highest in the company. Dan graduated magna cum laude with a B.S. in industrial engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology. Dan lives outside Philadelphia in Wayne, Pennsylvania, with his wife Amy and their four children.
